Saturday Jun 13, 2020
Saturday Jun 13, 2020
Ajahn Nissarano gives a Dhamma talk before the guided meditation. The guided meditation is for one of the four Brahmaviharas, equanimity. The intention of the meditation is to accept things as they are now. Everything belongs in the present moment, whether it is the way we like it or not, whether it is pleasant or unpleasant, or whether it is perfect or imperfect. Just allowing things to be as they are.
For those who wish to skip to the meditation, it begins roughly around 19:15.

Ajahn Nissarano gives a Dhamma talk from the Newbury Buddhist Monastery, starting with a gatha from the maha mangala sutta. The Dhamma talk centers around gratitude as a spiritual happiness and how it can be a powerful antidote to wanting. Gratitude is free happiness, and we can use it as a basis for our practice. This dhamma talk also has short guided meditations, as well as Nasruddin stories :)

In his last talk for some time at NBM, Bhante Mudito reflects on how we use our time: skillful practices (gratitude, kindness, service) vs unskillful (anger, lazy habits). Drawing on experiences from his younger days, and from the last two years at Newbury, he illustrates how cultivating certain actions and attitudes can have a beneficial effect, even during difficult and challenging times.
